Massage is a technique derived from many cultures and has been recorded in use since 3000BC. Massage benefits the whole body, both physiologically and psychologically, whether it is a state of deep relaxation for relief of stress or a treatment to aid recovery of tired and stiff muscles, or both. I have listed below some of the techniques that can be used and the specific applications of each. However in reality any of these techniques can be combined into one massage tailored to your specific needs
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is a classic style of massage. The aim of Swedish massage is to ease tension in muscles, improve blood flow, and remove adhesions and knots. It can use light or firm pressure depending on the clients requirements. The aim is to either stimulate or soothe muscles. It uses a combination of strokes depending on the areas being treated. Traditionally this style of massage is delivered using the fingertips and hands.
The massage can be formulated according to your needs and any areas of concern that you have. If you have any questions or want to discuss any treatments, please don’t hesitate to call, text on 07789 694402, or email fionasandsmassage@gmail.com.
Holistic Massage
I believe in the benefits of achieving a deep state of relaxation, something that very few of us achieve in today’s rushed and stressed lives. My holistic massage is based on the nurturing principles taught by the Oxford School of Massage and is a unique form of massage that induces a deep state of relaxation. It uses long flowing strokes and rhythm to induce a feeling of calm, nourishment and whole body relaxation, and is designed to leave the therapist and client with a sense of well-being.
The full holistic massage is 90 minutes and leaves you feeling relaxed and refreshed. It includes back, legs, feet, stomach (optional), arms, neck, shoulders, head and face.
Of course you don’t have to have the whole body massage, you can adapt it according to your needs. I can discuss your exact requirements at the time of booking. To book, either email, text or call on 07789 694402 or fionasandsmassage@gmail.com.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is very different to a massage that uses firm pressure. It can be used to reduce chronic pain, break up scar tissue, improve flexibility and suppleness and relieve stress and tension. It may also help to lower blood pressure.
Lots of time is dedicated to warming up the muscles before embarking upon manipulation of the deep tissues. I might use forearms and elbows more during this massage to achieve the desired result. It is not unusual to feel some soreness or tenderness for a few days following a deep tissue massage. I usually use a combination of massage techniques to achieve the right level for my clients.
