Aftercare Advice
Massage is a safe therapeutic treatment, however over the following days you might experience some side effects. This leaflet gives you information about what you might expect and gives you advice about what to do over the next 24 hours and before your next appointment.
What to do in the next 24 hours
Drink plenty of water to flush out toxins (avoid tea/coffee/alcohol)
You may feel tired – rest as much as your schedule will allow
Avoid hot baths or saunas for 24 hours
Avoid strenuous activity
Side Effects
Massage encourages the body systems to function more efficiently speeding up waste removal and flushing out toxins. As a result you may experience some of the following side effects (these are positive signs that your body is responding to treatment).
A temporary worsening of the symptoms being treated (this will pass)
Headache/dizziness/nausea
Increased urination
Increased sweating
Increased thirst
Cold/Flu like symptoms
Stuffy blocked nose
Irritability
Increased or decreased energy levels
Increased bowel movements
Altered sleep pattern
Increased emotional state

Before your next treatment
It is helpful to know how you last treatment affected you and so I would be grateful if you could record anything you experienced prior to your next appointment. These include;
